From Myself
People live through interactions, constantly influencing and being influenced by one another. Yet the memories shaped by these relationships often become distorted over time, shifting continuously within the flow of individual emotions. In this sense, the self is not a fixed entity, but something fluid—constantly reshaped through encounters with others and the passage of time.
Through my work, I have sought to confront myself by tracing the marks left by these countless relationships and by uncovering the distortions that time has cast over memory. While everyone carries small, everyday memories, I carry certain presences that I cannot simply overlook. These figures have played a crucial role in shaping my inner world. As time passes, I remember them in altered forms, and within those altered memories, I begin to find new meaning. The past wounds and heavy episodes I’ve experienced manifest on canvas as forms infused with specific emotions and colors, transforming into new narratives.
In the long journey of seeking to understand myself, I have come to realize that I can never fully grasp who I am. To reach any kind of understanding, I had to circle back endlessly—and it is through that endless cycle that my unique sense of self has taken shape. I now offer compassion and sympathy to the version of myself who had to endure pain and hardship, and I look upon the present version of myself—with all my stories—with a sense of empathy. That former self was also a part of this ongoing process, trying to find a direction forward. And so, even though the journey remains difficult and tinged with sorrow, I have begun to look at myself with warmth—as someone still searching for the meaning of their existence.
